It explores four main theories of radical recruitment: socioeconomic, cultural-religious, sectarian-based, and socio-psychological. The project tests each theory by evaluating micro-data based on interviews with 70 Lebanese militants who died fighting for radical organizations in Syria and Iraq (mainly ISIS) and their families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
